A Better Me

While we were in Jersey, the Hubby and I got a treat - a day without the kids in New York City. It's my favorite city and I fell in love with it eleven years ago when I first stepped out of that airplane. I am a city girl at heart and love the hustle and bustle of a city. I love to hear the noises and sounds, I love the crowds and the variety of people, and I love the endless possibilities one has that only a city can offer.

But this time, I got annoyed with nyc. And the Hubby felt the same way. I am sure it was not the city itself, it felt more like a zoo, and the exhibitions were the human kind of all sorts. We didn't like it.
So it got me thinking....

We've been in Texas for almost five years now, and until now I thought of Jersey as of home. I missed it, and occasionally I asked to move back.... This time, it hit me that Texas feels more like home now... and I can be a better person in Texas. When I go back, I also think of the things that I connect with Jersey, with my past, and that are not always good things. I truly believe that God forgave me my sins.  I am past that point of dragging them around with me, too. And the distance helps. This gives me such freedom and peace. I am amazed at the things that God can do.

Also, I have found an incredible church family here that supports me in which ever place I am in my relationship with Jesus. God is not done with me, but I know that I am in a much better place now - I have grown in Him and I like it. I don't want to live in the past, I have changed and I like the new Me better. I love all the things that I have learned here. Being surrounded by Christian friends helps, too. The trials that came our way helped me to be a better Christian. And guess what - I love trials now. Because I truly think that they are God's way of helping us to reach out to Him so He can teach us to deal with life in a Godly way.

1 Thessalonians 5:16-18 says this: "Be joyful always; pray continually; give thanks in all circumstances, for this is God's will for you in Christ Jesus." How beautiful. God is so good; all the time.

We have found great friends here in Texas and I am forever grateful that God brought us here. It feels like home now....
